February workshop
Our next Photography workshop is Thursday, January 18. We’ll meet at St. John’s Lutheran Church • 1000 Helena Avenue (Across from Helena Middle School). We’ll meet at 5:00 p.m. I just learned of a great photography opportunity that day, so we’re going to meet a little earlier than advertised in the county newsletter.
We also discussed your initial ideas for your Photography project that you want to pursue. I hope you’re already taking photos! Think about your project, sketch out a plan of what you want to explore, and the story you want to tell, and start taking a lot of photos. Please email Luke one of the photos that you feel is a good start to your project. It doesn’t have to be your best photo, just one that starts to tell your story.
Email your photo to Luke by Friday, January 12to elementl@bresnan.net with your name and the subject line: 4-H Photo project. More details on the website at https://lc4hphoto.com/2024project/
Fun opportunity!
We’re meeting at 5:00 p.m. so we can finish a little early. There will be an excellent photography presentation at the Lewis & Clark Library at 6:30 p.m., and you are welcome to attend with me. This is completely optional, but well worth your time:
The Montana Historical Society is giving a presentation on the work of F. Jay Haynes. It will be presented by historian Jeff Malcomson, who has served as a 4-H photography judge at the county fair several times.
Who was F. Jay Haynes? Hayne’s photos of Yellowstone captured the imagination of Americans in the 1880s, and is one of the reasons that the area was established as the United States’ first National Park. I’d love for you to join me after our photography workshop to attend this presentation at the Library. Here is more information: https://mhs.mt.gov/education/index1#manyfineviews
